Long before a building represents anything — before it communicates status, style, or civic aspiration through its facade — its floor plan has already organised what kinds of knowledge exchange are physically possible inside it, simply through the placement of walls, corridors and thresholds. A library's stacks arrangement determines what gets discovered by browsing before any catalogue system does; a hospital's corridor layout determines which specialists encounter each other informally before any organisational chart does. Architecture is epistemic architecture first, representational architecture second, even though most architectural criticism inverts that order. ReasonExterior names the logic embedded in spatial organisation that operates independently of, and sometimes contrary to, whatever official rationale the building's design brief claimed to follow — a building's plan reasons about knowledge in its own terms, whether or not the architect intended it to.
